Frequently asked questions

What is EU Directive 2023/2673?

An amendment to the EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU. Its new Article 11a requires online stores selling to EU consumers to provide a prominent on-site withdrawal function — a "withdrawal button". It applies across the EU since 19 June 2026.

Who must have a withdrawal button?

Every online store selling goods or services to consumers in the EU — regardless of where the business is registered or which platform it runs on (Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix, custom).

What happens if my store doesn't have one?

The customer's 14-day withdrawal period can extend to 12 months and 14 days, and national authorities can impose fines — for widespread infringements up to 4% of annual turnover or at least €2 million.

How does Withdrawl make my store compliant?

Withdrawl adds a compliant withdrawal button and 3-step form to your storefront, emails the customer a confirmation on a durable medium, and keeps a regulator-ready audit log. Installation takes about 5 minutes.

Which languages does the button support?

22 EU languages. The button and form follow your customer's language automatically, and statutory button wording per member state is built in.

Do I need it if I only sell in one country?

Yes — the requirement is EU-wide and applies to every distance sale to an EU consumer. Some countries add extras on top: in Estonia, for example, every e-shop must show the button from 1 September 2026.

In force across the EU since 19 June 2026

Don't be the store that gets fined.

The rule is already in force. Until your store shows a compliant withdrawal button, a customer's 14-day window can extend to 12 months + 14 days — plus member-state penalties.
